Avoid Expensive Sewer and Drain Repairs Now

robotic cutters for mainline reinstatements

Does your insurance cover sewer repair? There are a few we have worked with tin the Aberdeen, MD area that were more than helpful when we asked about their coverage.

Our Experience

We have worked with plenty of commercial property associations and maintenance departments. Having a good working knowledge of how your sewer systems work can help you avoid expensive sewer and drain repairs now.

CIPP seals broken cast iron, pvc, orangeburg, clay pipe and moreKeeping Your Sewer System in Good Condition

It is extremely important to be pro-active when it comes to taking care of your facilities. The last thing you want is a surprise in the sewer system to pop up and create a nasty mess. Regular pipe inspections are always a good idea to at least have an idea of what lies beneath your building.

CCTV pipe inspections can assure you that your sanitary systems are draining properly and smoothly. The last time we visited Aberdeen, MD our pipe inspections revealed many drain pipe problems that were 10 to 20 feet underground. Some of the repairs were simple fixes only requiring the use of our waterjetting services.

Trenchless Pipe Repair or CIPP

Trenchless pipe repair is often referred to as CIPP or “cured-in-place pipe” repair. Other methods have been known as sliplining, pull-in-place, pipe bursting and a multitude of other trenchless technologies.

Depending on the size and infrastructure of your property, trenchless technologies may be your best bet.

cipp liner for broken sewer pipe lining companiesAsk a friend if they know any plumbing contractors that are able to perform these types of procedures. Often times, especially in the metro area of Washington DC and Maryland, this technology can be a great way to save money. There is little to no digging required and the contractors will not have to break up slabs to replace the pipelines.

Deep Pipes in Northern Virginia

We have found that many pipes in this area require contractors to break up slabs of concrete sidewalks, roadways and large flooring areas. This destruction costs a lot of money to coordinate with the city. Most areas of Northern Virginia are concrete jungles and require tons of excavation to simply replace one or two sewer lines.

With our trenchless technology we are able to use our Perma-Liner and Maxliner inversion heads to completely replace pipes without digging. This pipe relining process is simple and just as effective as traditional pipe repair methods.

Often times the flow of your sewer system will increase and have fewer backups since the liners contain zero joints and can smooth bends and offset pipes. These liners can even connect entire sections of missing pipe.

Reinstatements with Robotic Cutters

Does your system have T’s or Y’s in them connecting them to other lateral pipe lines?

No worries here. With our robotic cutters and professionally trained technicians we can navigate your pipes from the inside and cut out any pre-existing connections.

robotic cutters for mainline reinstatementsOur pipelines often last much longer than their design life, which is guaranteed by the manufacturer for up to 50 years. Feel free to call us on our toll-free number is you have any questions about our services and we will be more than happy to walk you through this new technology!

Traditional VS Trenchless Pipe Repair

Trenchless pipe repair

Trenchless Pipe Repair

Traditional VS Trenchless

Traditional pipe repair generally means digging down to a pipe that have been damaged, cutting out sections, and replacing it with brand new piping. With advances in technology, contractors are now able to replace or simply repair pipe without having to dig a massive trench that disturbs the landscape.

This is known as trenchless pipe repair or no dig pipe repair. Almost every contractor out there today can benefit from this more versatile way of repairing pipe.

Benefits

The first main benefit that you can expect from trenchless pipe repair is that you don’t actually have to do any serious digging. This means that you won’t have to worry about damaging precious land that would otherwise be expensive to fix. There is virtually no mess involved and clean up is often a breeze.

Tight Spaces

Another great benefit of trenchless pipe repair is that a pipe can be fixed or replaced in areas that would otherwise be impossible to get to.

As an example, say a sewer needs to be repaired but it is stuck underneath a building. The only two options would be to dig around the entire building and run a fresh new sewer line or to simply replace the broken pipe with a pipe-bursting machine.

Pipe bursting is a form of trenchless pipe replacement. Trenchless pipe repair is a very green technology. You really don’t need to throw dirt and silt everywhere in order to do the job. The beauty is that natural habitats won’t need to be disturbed. We think trenchless pipe repair just makes sense.

National Park Services Fix Fountain Pipe With Mountain Hype

National Park Service Government contractor for CIPP pipe lining job

The National Park Services manages many national monuments in the United States. This particular monument in Washington DC was plagued with broken pipe lines.

National Park Service – Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Fountain in Washington DC

As one of our largest federal and government contracted clients, the National Park Service came to us for our reputation in the DC area as the ‘go to guys’ for pipe sewer and drain repair services in Northern Virginia. We have helped their Facility Maintenance & Operations staff many times to lower their External Administrative Costs.

Park Support

National Park Service Sewer and Drain Pipe Lining companyOur technicians were able to help maintain the fountain pipe lines and repair them completely with our trenchless CIPP technologies.

Our services offer a great deal of park support to keep visitors happy and out of harms way during the pipe repair process.

We are able to do this because our sewer repair contractors can:

  • Minimize unsafe facilites
  • Replace pipelines with zero dig technology
  • Preserve infrastructure
  • Reduce downtime
  • Save money
  • Work within state grants and budget guidelines
  • Preserve natural and historic cultural resources
  • Offer alternatives to compare plumbing costs of traditional pipe repair contractors

Geography and Natural History

Located in the Potomac River and entirely inside of the District of Columbia, this monument features a beautiful fountain with a statue in the background. Paul Manship sculpted four large stone monoliths with some of Roosevelt’s most famous quotations and two large fountains on the island.

This island is constantly threatened by tidal flooding due to storm surges and large amounts of rainfall affecting many of the islands piping and plumbing infrastructure.

Access

The Island is only accessible via a footbridge and northboud lanes of George Washington Memorial Parkway. This makes large scale pipe repair jobs difficult to manage.

Our mobile pipe repair unit is the perfect fit to repair the Islands pipeline infrastructure. Our system includes many high grade CCTV pipe inspection systems that provide high-quality resolution specs and videos to our contracting partners.

Also, our pipe cleaning and clearing unit is fitted with some of the country’s most advanced jetting nozzle systems available. Depending on the situation our technicians can clean and clear any type of piping problem with ease.

The robotic reinstatement cutter is able to break through any collapsed pipe or concrete protrusions within the line.

CIPP Pipe Lining

The CIPP pipe lining process repairs pipe from the inside out without having to dig up the pipes and replace them.

  1. A felt liner is saturated with a two part epoxy and then inverted into the broken or damaged sewer pipe or pipe line.
  2. Once inside the line, a bladder filled with hot air or water is inserted and inflated to force the liner against the walls of the existing pipe.
  3. Once the liner is in place the epoxies begin to cook and cure in place in a matter of hours.

This forms a brand new, jointless and seamless pipe within a pipe. The rate of flow is greatly increased and any infiltration or exfiltration is completely eliminated.

What is a cured in place pipe liner?

jetter nozzle head

A cured in place pipe liner consists of two parts.

  1. A felt tube liner that is soft to the touch
  2. A mixture of epoxies

CIPP pipe repair materialsThe CIPP liner material

This fiber reinforced fabric is manufactured to fit into a host pipe. This non-woven polyester cipp liner material has a hard layer on what is initially the outside of the liner itself. On the inside of the liner is a soft fabric that is able to soak up and hold the resin.

The cipp liner thickness is the same as it is when it hardens. The outer shell of the liner is coated from the manufacturer with a polymer film to protect the liner from dust and damage during transportation.

Epoxy Mixture

The epoxy mixture consists of two parts. A thermo-setting epoxy mixture that mixes two parts of A, which is the base. This can be considered the actual body of the resin. And one part of B which is the hardener and the accelerator of the mix.  The levels of hardener of and accelerator vary depending on the ambient temperature. The accelerator is used to speed up the hardening of the epoxies in colder temperatures.

CIPP liner installation

perma liner epoxyCIPP liners can be installed in any type of host pipe. They are mostly used to rehabilitate sanitary sewers. Circular and non-circular pipes can be lined with this cured in place pipe repair. If a line is oval or egg-shaped, ovoid or even box culverts, the line will mold and form to replace the existing pipeline.

Cured In Place Pipe Liners Can Repair

Cured in place pipe is also used on storm drains. Many times storm drains will have leaking joints or are cracked. Tree roots often invade storm drains and can cause major loss of money or revenue to large businesses and installations. Infiltration and exfiltration can cost a business money. Re-lining an existing storm drain will completely stop and infiltration and exfiltration from occurring.

Water and gas lines can also be preserved with cured in place pipe liners. Trenchless technology has become an industry standard when it comes to replacing existing water and gas lines. Any type of pipe that has effluents or fluids that are harmful to PVC, cast-iron or any other pipe material can be tested and remanufactured to hold-up and contain any chemicals.

The thickness of the cured in place pipe liner can be designed to sustain loads of varying pressure. Depending on the surface traffic, external groundwater, soil types and weight a liner can be chosen that will hold up to external forces.

Prior To Lining

pipe jettingTo install a cured in place pipe liner, the pipe must be cleaned by jetting. This will remove any debris such as rust, sludge, roots and rocks. If a pipe becomes bellied or off pitch, this section of the pipe may have to be partially removed. A camera inspection will confirm that a pipe has been cleaned sufficiently to insert the liner.

Chilled water line repair and replacement without digging

Chilled water line system repair condensors

Rehabilitating existing water lines is crucial to maintaining a healthy chilled water system in large buildings. We installed (4) 50-foot long, 8-inch liners replacing the existing chilled water lines at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, VA.

Chilled Water Line Repair

Chilled water system diagramThe water lines went from the outdoor condensers under the asphalt parking lot and concrete slab into the mechanical room. We repaired the supply and return pipes with CIPP liners.

These pipes bring in chilled water into the building to cool the building and it’s occupants. This chilled water unit, also known as an AC unit is often used to cool a large building’s air and equipment.

Chilled water line system repair condensors

Chilled Water System Rehabilitation Practices

When it comes time to replace the condensors on these chilled water units it is a common practice to renew the entire piping infrastructure. This has been a major problem in the past due to the large costs of excavation.

Sewer Line Repair

cipp repair chilled water lineOur trenchless technology provides an extremely cost-effective and time saving procedure to rehabilitate existing piping infrastructure with cured-in-place pipe lining. CIPP is one of the newest plumbing repair methods on the market to date. Pipe lining is significantly faster than traditional excavation plumbing repair practices.

Plumbing Repair

When it comes to finding a plumber that can tackle this job there are a few types of plumbing repair methods to choose from:

  • Traditional Dig-and-Replace
  • Trenchless Pipe Lining or CIPP
  • Slip Lining
  • Sectional Point Repair

Each method has it’s advantages and disadvantages. With traditional dig-and-replace, if there are no major structures between the surface and the piping infrastructure, digging and replacing is usually the most cost effective way to replace aging and broken pipe.

Trenchless pipe lining, slip lining and sectional point repair are all newer methods that utilize trenchless technology.

CIPP involves inverting liners into existing lines and curing them in place with hot air or water. This method can offset the costs of major excavation and downtime. Since there is no digging involved, business can continue as usual and existing infrastructure is completely preserved.

Pipe lining also increases the rate at which water travels through the pipe by at least 20% making for a much more efficient system.

Sewer Repair Companies In Virginia for Home or Business

Old damaged pipes cut out by plumber

CIPP SAMPLESThere are many sewer repair companies in Virginia. If your sewer is clogging and backing up or you are having drainage problems, pipe repair can help fix it. There are many reasons why you may need to call a sewer repair expert.

Calling a Professional Plumber

  • Constant Backups
  • Leaking Pipes
  • High Water Bills
  • Infiltration/Exfiltration
  • And more…

All of these problems can leave you searching for help. If you own a business, property or even an industrial plant, losing money to leaking water pipes can cost you thousands of dollars. Sometimes you don’t even know that this is happening.

A professional plumber can investigate your drainage systems and give you a detailed evaluation of your piping infrastructure’s condition. A trustworthy company will give you a copy of any pipe inspection videos taken during the evaluation.

Why use trenchless technology?

Old damaged pipes cut out by plumber Our sewer repair techniques are very unique. We can repair or replace a pipe without digging. What we do is evaluate the pipe with a CCTV pipe inspection to see any problem areas and connections. Once we have reviewed this we can see what we are dealing with.

If the pipe needs to be cleaned we have an industrial strength waterjetting machine that can clean an clear any type of blockage or build up. Sometimes the pipe can have massive amounts of rust build up from old age so we use de-scaling nozzles to remove the rust.

If it is some type of sludge build up from grease or oil or any other type of blockage we have a whole arsenal of nozzles that can degrease and remove blockages.

Aging Sewer Systems – Why Should You Care?

Aging sewer systems can also face problems such as cracking or shifting. This can offset joints and create openings that can become infiltrated with roots and various other debris. We have found all kinds of things inside of pipes and repairing them is crucial to maintaining a healthy sewer system.

Most sewer repair companies do not offer trenchless pipe repair and will excavate your property to remove the old pipe. Once they replace the pipe they will fill the holes back up and replace any flooring or objects that were above ground.

Did you know that you don’t have to dig to replace sewer pipes?

Instead of digging up your pipe what we do is insert a sock like sleeve into the pipe with our inversion machine. Once the sleeve is inside the pipe we put another tube inside of that and blow it up with hot air or water. This holds the liner material against the wall of the old pipe allowing it to cure in place and create a brand new pipe inside of the old pipe without digging. This can save your building from having to shut down. We can repair your pipes while you work!

Plumbing Companies

We work with the best plumbing companies in Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and al over the East coast.

Hampton Roads Chamber Passes Transportation Funding Plan

Sewer Horse is watching you

Over the weekend, Republicans and Democrats joined together to pass the first new significant sustainable transportation funding and reform bill in Virginia in 27 years.

For a summary of HB2313, click here.

The Hampton Roads Chamber is thrilled by the passage of a long-term, comprehensive transportation funding plan that will increase sewer repair jobs such as storm pipe lining and pipe repair in general for the VDOT.  Transportation funding has been the Chamber’s top legislative priority for many years. This new legislation, a necessary compromise, will result in $3.5 billion in new transportation funding over the next five years, an estimated 35% reduction in the tax on gas at the pump and the strengthening of Virginia’s economic competitiveness.

Thousands of new jobs will be created. Before this vote it was projected that by the year 2018 we would have been transferring $500 million meant for construction just to fund simple maintenance projects. There would have been virtually no new money available for new construction projects. Now, this problem has been solved for the foreseeable future.

We applaud Governor McDonnell for his leadership on this historic legislation. We also want to thank the Hampton Roads General Assembly delegation who worked on this bi-partisan funding plan that will now allow the Commonwealth to address its failing transportation infrastructure.

Thank You Governor McDonnell.. We will be in your sewer system watching and waiting for our chance to clean, clear and help rebuild our city!

So what does this mean for the trenchless pipe lining industry?

We will see a rise in VDOT projects out for bid. Mostly storm pipe lining to help rebuild the transportation infrastructure.

Summary:

This article written by Scottie Dayton features Dynamic Drain’s targeted approach to fuel rapid revenue growth. Owner Nick Santoni, Donald Libby and Wes Fogleman work on a job at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

This article reveals Nick Santoni’s inception of Dynamic Drain Technologies and it’s rise to conquer high-profile projects including lining pipes at the National Gallery of Arts, The Smithsonian Institution, U.S. Capitol Building, Postal Service Buildings, University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA and Theodore Roosevelt Island. Military bases such as the ever popular Quantico made the list of major plumbing jobs as well.

In June 2012, Santoni hired Mark Kolodziej as an SEO Marketing Consultant to facilitate search engine optimization marketing winning new business through online advertising. This approach doubled the company’s revenue within six months. Marketing and sales are a part of Santoni’s lifestyle. His team’s attention to detail has contributed greatly to his success by earning the trust of contractors to bring him in on their jobs. His full and part time employees clean, inspect and rehabilitate pipes using the ambient cure Perma-Liner lateral system or hot-water cure MaxLiner system. Without worry he can send in his Vivax-Metrotech V Push cameras and trailer mounted Mongoose 184XL sewer jetter with nozzles from Stone Age to inspect clean and clear any pipeline. Success with innovation includes the MacGuyver award for fashioning a push-rod cable system with high-powered magnets to retrieve forks and other silverware. Other sewer machines and hydrojetters wouldn’t budge the metallic debris created in the mess halls that serve thousands of military personnel per day. They have also floated cameras through missing inverts by carving up foam footballs and fabricated custom welds to remove scale from sharp bends.

CIPP Used to Reline Capitol Conduit

TrenchlessTechFeature

“TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGY MAGAZINE” APRIL – 2011

TrenchlessTechFeature

CIPP or cured in place pipe formerly known as Insituform, is being utilized more frequently due to advances in technology. Pipe lining is gaining popularity for it’s ability to skip digging and reline pipes without digging.

Six years ago the federal government began construction on an underground visitor center beneath the United States Capitol Building in Washington DC. The new visitor center extends from the Capitol to the Library of Congress. During the construction, 114-ft vertical, galvanized electrical conduits were installed. The purpose of these conduits was to supply a series of electrical wires 40-ft underground to power a series of security and other electrical equipment within the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). Shortly after the installation of the conduits, groundwater started to seep in at the joints.

This water was creating serious problems for the CVC. First, the ground water was infiltrating the roof where the conduits entered the building; this was causing discoloration  within the ceiling tiles. Secondly, the wires that were incased by the galvanized conduits were at risk to be damaged by the groundwater and could fail at any time, which could shut down the CVC security system.

Finally, due to the sensitivity of the area absolutely no excavation was possible. The vault that housed all 11 conduits was no more than a 100 yards from the actual Capitol Building.

Solution

Dynamic Drain Technologies out of Virginia Beach, VA, was approached by the general contractor to come up with an application to stop the water infiltration without disrupting the Capitol grounds without any excavation.

Dynamic Drain Technologies was founded to bring cost-effective, cutting-edge sewer and drain technologies to the Mid-Atlantic region. The contractor offers a wide variety of residential and commercial sewer and drain services, such as cured-in place pipe (CIPP) renewal, CCTV pipe inspections, pipe bursting and water jetting. Dynamic Drain is also a certified Perma-Liner installer using its Inversion System and offers industrial and municipal services. The contractor services North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Washington DC, Mid-Atlantic and Pennsylvania. A time frame of less than three days was also in place once the project was started because of security and the fact that the Capitol Visitor Center was already open and was housing events each day. A lightweight, fast pipelining system that would not create any harmful odors in order to not disturb visitors was needed; Dynamic Drain went with its Perma-Liner pipe lining technology.

This would allow Dynamic Drain to install an epoxy-felt liner within the broken initial
diameter of the conduits. The liner was a good idea because it barely reduced the initial diameter of the conduit and it would be a seamless brand new structural pipe from end to end. This would allow the electrical contractor to string new wires without the risk of getting caught on joints and stripping the wires. The Perma-Liner Inversion System allowed Dynamic Drain to install four liners a day in order to meet the Capitol Visitor Centerʼs time requirement of three days. The 100 percent solids epoxy created no alarming odors.

Pipe lining saves commercial contractor time and money

Pipe Repair Under Sculpture

Dynamic Drain was able to save Cascade Fountains from having to tear up their precious art sculpture by lining directly underneath it without disturbing the surface.

Sewer Pipe Lining company in Saves Art Contractors Cascade Fountains from Destruction in Arlington, VA!

Are you a contractor who is faced with a nightmare excavation job? Do you have buried utilities spread like spider webs over a pipe you need to excavate fast? Well our friends at Cascade Fountains sure did.

They specialize in the construction of high dollar fountains for viewing pleasure.

They had constructed a fancy double eye fountain in Arlington, VA for a new ritzy high rise neighborhood. Construction was almost complete when they ran into a problem. The under ground piping feeding the fountains had several leaks from joints offsetting. The pipe was not holding proper pressure.

This was almost an impossible dig.

In order to excavate and fix the off set joints they would have needed to rent a crane to remove the two million dollar fountains and then bust up the pavers and marble to dig down to the pipe. This of course was not an option.

Dynamic Drain Technologies was able to access the pipe with our lining technologies and install a 6″ cured in place liner to seal the pipes without any disruption to the fountains. This project was completed in less than a day and saved thousands of dollars.

So if you are a contractor with a nightmare dig call Dynamic Drain Technologies, your trenchless pipe repair experts!
